The Affective Disorders Center of UNC is proud to announce the opening of the Treatment-Resistant Depression Program at UNC Mental Health Specialists. This program brings together nationally recognized experts in the assessment and treatment of depression and other mood disorders that have proved unresponsive to conventional therapy. Comprehensive consultations can be scheduled at the UNC Faculty Practice at Vilcom Center Dr.
Nick Zarzar, MD
Dr. Zarzar was born in Chapel Hill and returned to complete undergraduate and medical school degrees as well as residency training in psychiatry. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Zarzar worked for many years at Person Counseling Center, a community mental health center, in Roxboro NC. He then began work in private practice in Raleigh, NC initially with Glenwood Psychiatric Associates PLLC then with Zarzar Psychiatric Associates PLLC. Dr. Zarzar’s practice was in general adult psychiatry treating ages 18 and older. He incorporated psychotherapy and psychopharmacology in his treatment strategies for a wide range of conditions. Particular clinical interest include mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. Zarzar will be working as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry primarily in a clinical role at Vilcom Center Drive clinics.
